2. Swap margarine for real butter or avocado
This may sound a bit of weird swap, but it’s awesome nonetheless. Try swapping both margarine and butter for avocado, which is perfect to use instead of butter in baking recipes. ‘Avocados add the same creaminess and texture without the calories and you can’t even really taste the difference. The great thing about them is that they are full of healthy fats so you’re literally swapping a bad fat for a good one!’ tells personal trainer, Kayla Itsines. It’s also great as a spread on toast!
Top tip: If you don’t fancy making this drastic change then try swapping margarine for real butter instead. Louise Pyne explains why: ‘Butter is a natural product whilst margarine contains nasty trans fats due to the way it’s manufactured. Your body needs good fats in order to absorb vitamins A, D C and K, so adding a little knob of butter to your veggies will actually improve the bioavailability of nutrients,’ she says.
