2. Surfing

Surfer babes are hot—and for good reason: riding waves builds a strong core and legs, while swimming the board back out to water is a non-stop cardio workout. Most importantly, hanging 10 (surfer lingo for hanging all 10 toes off the front of a board while surfing a wave) requires intense bursts of efforts. We love it because it’s like a high-intensity interval training class, just with a better view. To help you feel great on the board, do plenty of cardio endurance and workouts that mimic the pop-up move of surfing. Think planks, push-ups, burpees and jumps. Watergate Bay in Cornwall has two miles of beach at low tide, so this is a good venue to try surfing out. The Extreme Academy teaches surfing here and when you need a break there are beach cafes, including Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall.
