‘Tabata is a type of HIIT that gets the heart rate up fast’ tells Carly. ‘It’s scientifically proven to burn more calories than endurance-based cardio as it takes the body longer to get the heart rate back to its resting state,’ she explains. Tabata is great if you are pushed for time and a 4-minute workout means no excuses. Here’s how to do it:

Push yourself hard for 20 seconds then rest for 10 seconds. Complete eight rounds for each exrecise.

You can do squats, press-ups, burpees, or any exercise that works your large muscle groups.
