Val Thorens, France

Best for après-ski: Val Thorens, France

Skiing has become synonymous with its boozy counterpart aprés, and for many people, the quality of it will more than certainly influence where they go. Dubbed ‘the highest party town in the Alps’, Brits have been flocking year on year to the resort of Val Thorens – and for good reason. Any resort with a La Folie Douce club is a good place to start. The infamous aprés spot is renowned for its lively atmosphere and packed lunchtime partying, sure to leave you more than a little wobbly on your skis. In town, the party doesn’t stop either. With more bars than you could visit in one night, haunts such as The Frog and RoastBeef – the highest pub in Europe – are crammed and bustling. Another way to find a good party spot is to follow the Seasonaires. In this case, it’s The Saloon Bar offering up cheap drinks and a cheerful atmosphere – dancing on tables you will most definitely find. If this wasn’t enough, Val Thorens is also home to the largest nightclub in the Alps. Malaysia may be unsightly, but if you’re up for an all-nighter with no intentions of catching the first lift up the mountain, this is your spot.
