We’ve tried and tested every gizmo and gadget out there to bring you the 3 kitchen gadgets that will actually improve your life!

Eating healthily can be a pricey business. £7 for an organic smoothie to go? £3 for a carton of unsweetened almond milk? For most of us, that’s just not viable (at least not if we want to be able to afford some reformer Pilates classes on the side!).

Sure, there are now a whole host of kitchen gadgets to help us make our own healthy snacks and drinks – but are they any good? Having tested a fair few, here’s my guide to three amazing machines I didn’t know I couldn’t live without. Now they help me create my own health essentials on a daily basis!

The initial cash outlay is more than recouped by savings on marked-up drinks and nibbles, but it’s not just about the money, here are three other reasons to get whizzing:

1. You can control exactly what goes in (I like my food fresh, washed and organic. No mysterious ‘flavourings’ or preservatives).

2. Freedom to experiment (turns out I like my hazelnut milk unsweetened, but made with cinnamon and vanilla!).

3. Sense of achievement (ain’t nothing like creating food from scratch to make me feel resourceful.).

So let’s go-go-gadget!

We Heart Living – Nutribullet
Smoothies on the go
I resisted the charms of the Nutribullet for quite some time, as I didn’t see what it could do that my regular blender couldn’t. However, after seeing people sipping homemade green smoothies from their Nutri cups while I downed my overpriced shop-bought one, I decided to give in and invest in something more portable. And I’m glad I did. While the motor isn’t as powerful as that of most blenders, given its small size I think it does pretty well (though it struggles a bit with hard veg like raw carrot.) There are three cups included, one big, two small. Fill desired cup with fruit, veg and any powders or supplements you fancy (I like a spoonful of baobab/chia seeds and/or cacao nibs); top up with filtered water/coconut water/mylk of choice up to the mark; then whiz for up to 60 seconds and put the lid on. Voila! A portable, fresh smoothie to enjoy on the go.

BONUS: Particularly brilliant for those with limited kitchen space.
