No time to for a daily workout? There’s no need to give up your fitness goals. Staying active is important, so fitting it in any which way you can is a must. If you’re strapped for time and can’t dedicate even 20 minutes to visiting the gym, here are some ideas that are easy to squeeze into your every day life, whether you’re swamped with work or busy with the school run.

1.    Carry a weighted backpack
While running errands, darting between meetings or commuting, fill up a comfy backpack with anything heavy to make your walks harder work. Power walk when possible, and remember to wear sensible shoes!

2.    5-minute bursts
You might not have a solid hour to give to the gym, but if you’ve got five minutes in the morning, five in the day and five in the evening, you can still get a workout in. Go for a little intense burst of explosive exercises like burpees, jump squats or staircase step-ups in as many short bouts as you can. It all adds up!

3.    Bathroom breaks
Perform ten jump squats every time you take a bathroom break. It might not be a full-on workout, but is definitely better than nothing and will at least make exercising a habit.

4.    Time for telly?
Time to unwind is important, too, and if relaxing in front of the TV after a long day at work is how you spend yours, then why not turn it into an opportunity to work your muscles, too? Pick a move and aim to perform ten reps each time the scene changes on screen.

Try not to forget all the little changes you can make to your daily habits that could have massive rewards. Skipping the elevators and escalators to take the stairs or walking any manageable distances rather than getting the bus or driving are all easy ways to get your heart and body working and burn calories.
