‘Working for Health & Fitness means no one week is the same when it comes to working out. I can be testing out the latest Twerking class one week and going to a 6am fitness rave the next. I think the variation works well and means I’m never bored, as I don’t have the longest attention span. Generally, though, it tends to be a mix of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) based classes and a lot of running. I’m lucky enough to live next to a big park, with lots of hills for sprints and so try and go as often as I can. I find it the biggest stress-buster! I’m gradually adding a lot more weights and resistance exercises in to my routine in a bid to get leaner and stronger, too.
‘I love HIIT because it’s easy to fit around a busy lifestyle and it’s so effective. I prefer faster, more energetic workouts, like spin – I love BOOM Cycle – and treadmill classes like Project Fit or Barry’s Bootcamp, but I’m trying to get in to yoga and Pilates as I think it complements the amount of pavement-pounding I do. I recently tried Heartcore Pilates. It’s a dynamic workout, so really engages your muscles and core.
‘I used to row for my university, but injured my knee. It was probably the fittest I’ve ever been though, because the training was so full on. I’ve done a half marathon and am tempted to do a full one in 2015!
‘Running a marathon, getting my diving qualification and going on a surfing holiday are my goals. I need to sign up for Tough Mudder in May and I want to pick up boxing (especially if my art director, Lucy, has anything to do with it), plus I really want to get my black belt in karate at some point, as I’m only one belt away. Just to fit it all in… but for now I’m learning to ski.’
