5. Professional bleaching

Whether it’s carried out by your dentist or in the form of a ‘supervised’ home kit – it is the most common method of teeth whitening, most likely because it can last up to three years. However, it can result in your teeth becoming more sensitive as well as other side effects. ‘Eventually, these treatments will eat away at the enamel, and then the teeth will look duller and ultimately make them more vulnerable to staining. Furthermore, bleaching can damage the nerve of a tooth and cause gum recession,’ explains dentistry expert and author, Nadine Artemis.
