Hypnotherapy isn’t just people being made to bark like a dog on stage or entering a trance via a swinging pendulum. Here are 5 reasons you should try hypnotherapy

The way hypnotherapy is portrayed on the TV and in stage shows bears very little resemblance to a clinical hypnotherapy session. But what does having hypnotherapy actually feel like, what are the benefits and can anyone do it?

If you’ve ever daydreamed, you’ve experienced a very similar state of mind as you would during a hypnotherapy session. It’s a state of relaxed focus, where your conscious mind quietens down so that your subconscious mind can take on board suggestions and images that have been designed to help you. It’s possible for anyone to get into this state of mind, you just have to want to.

Although commonly thought of as treatment for things like smoking and phobias, most of the clients I see come for help with confidence, anxiety and IBS.

Now, hypnotherapy is not a miracle cure; it still takes work on both sides, but results are often excellent and achieved within only a few sessions.

Still not convinced? Here are 5 reasons you should try hypnotherapy:

1. Learn how to relax

Hypnotherapy is often called one of the most relaxing things you can do since the process itself is very serene. One of the most common side effects of having hypnotherapy is that people learn to relax their body and mind. Having learned to do this during the session, they can more easily relax and switch off in their everyday lives. This is helpful for those who are often stressed, struggle with sleep, or even those who find meditation difficult and want to improve their ability to quieten their minds down.
