Now the weather is warmer, here are 5 outdoor classes you need to try.
One of the best things about summer is being able to break free from the confines of your gym and bask in the sunshine while you exercise. With a wealth of outdoor classes this summer, you needn’t slog it out on treadmill or run alone. Rather, you can see new sights, meet new people and soak up the rays (we’re remaining hopeful, Britain) all while toning and honing your body and getting your vitamin D fix. What’s not to love? Here’s our pick of the best outdoor classes this summer.
Barre for breakfast
If you’re an earlybird who likes to tick off their workout before brekkie, this one’s for you. Frame is running Breakfast Barre classes throughout summer at King’s Cross, on the steps by the Regent’s Canal. Frame Master Trainer Gede will lead you through a 60-minute signature Frame Barre class, a low impact workout that targets your whole body. After your morning plié fix, enjoy a gluten-, dairy- and refined sugar-free breakfast of freshly-pressed juices, protein-packed smoothies, granola pots and acai bowls to top off your morning.
Rooftop yoga
Rooftop yoga classes are popping up all over the shop, but they’re at their best in the summer when the views are stretching and air is warm. Or if there’s a picnic thrown in, which is the case with Secret Yoga Club and the Sunday morning sessions running until September. For the ultimate bootcamp experience, ditch the ring for an open-air playground home to Boxit’s boxing class. Punch your way to your perfect body with a combination of traditional combative moves, heaps of cardio and a good dose of body weight training for a real full-body blitz. Classes are held outside on the common opposite Clapham South tube station.
Zumba with zeal
Who doesn’t like exercise that doesn’t feel like exercise? WHL has long been fans of Zumba, but Zumba Stars has just cranked it up a notch with their silent-disco style classes in the park. Simply turn up, pop on your headphones and shake and shimmy in the sunshine for perhaps the most fun workout you’ve had in a while.
