Down in the dumps now that the festivities are behind you? Here are 4 reasons to look forward to January

After eating our own bodyweight in chocolate over Christmas and partying our way through new year, we can sometimes let January slip by unnoticed, but not this January. This time it’s out with the old and in with the new. Think of January as a new dawn, a new day, a new life. We’re gonna be ‘feeeeeeelin’ good.’

1. New gym kit

Splurging on anything and everything in the January sales is so last year. Come 2015, give yourself free reign to splurge on new gym kit knowing your purchases come with a full guilt-free glow. Fabulous new gym kit will motivate you as you smash your health and fitness campaign in January. We’re talking capris, matching vests, running tights, gym bags, towels and not to mention a rainbow of trainers. Oh and exercise socks, sports bras, yoga pants… Just the essentials, of course!

2. The ultimate excuse

Taking part in Dry January also offers you a bulletproof get-out-of-jail-free card. This pass is vital if your ‘new year, new you’ campaign is to succeed, keeping you on the straight and narrow. Use it to your advantage and brandish it wisely for ultimate effect. Drinks with the boring, dare I say geeky, crowd from level three? Simply reply with your first line of defence: ‘Sorry, I’m doing Dry January.’

3. New fit friends

Come January, everyone climbs on board the health bandwagon trying to get their ‘fit’ on so there’s always someone to enjoy the ride with. Motivate others to come to that new hot yoga class, swap healthy recipes over lunch or, better still, catch up on the latest news and have a heavy breathing natter on an evening run with friends.

4. Winter sun

If you’re still suffering from the post-Christmas blues despite all that January has to offer, then what better way to brighten up the dull days than by planning a holiday full of sunshine? Either pack up your bags and head for the winter sun or wait until the ‘new you’ has well and truly arrived and simply spend the cold nights tucked up in bed browsing the travel brochures working out where to unveil your bikini body.
