7. Relax around food

Be kind to yourself – it’s too easy to become obsessive and restrictive about your diet over the period, causing you to lose sight of what matters. Chris Sandel, nutritionist, encourages people to ‘enjoy the festive season for what it is – a time to catch up with friends, relatives and work colleagues. This is hard to do when you are constantly worrying about food or how you’re not following your diet. Enjoy the food, alcohol and merriment and don’t overthink it. Make your decisions based on how you really feel. If you want a dessert than go for it. If you want an extra helping of food, then eat it. Just relax around food and enjoy the company of those special people in your life.’
