4. Think long-term

Rome wasn’t built in a day and your dream body won’t be staring back at you in the mirror after one gym session, either. If you set yourself a long-term goal and give yourself something to work hard for you might feel more enthusiastic.

‘Even as a professional athlete there are always days when the weather’s bad and I’d prefer to stay in bed, but I always remind myself of the long term goal,’ Joanna says. ‘Whether that’s a competition coming up or a target weight you’re trying to reach, remind yourself of the bigger picture and how it’ll pay off in the long term.’
