5. Be thankful

It’s all too easy to be on a constant search for ‘more’ – more money, more stuff, more love, more health – but this search can be exhausting. Being grateful for and appreciating what we already have is associated with less anxiety and depression and a greater sense of optimism all-round. So make a daily (or weekly) list; write down the big things; such as your family, home or health, and small things; that slice of cake, a text from your other half, a seat on the tube, that you are grateful for in your life. It can help you to feel more positive even when you’re tired or stressed.
