10. Get a pet

Pets have been shown to lower blood pressure and boost feelings of wellbeing and self esteem. So the other half won’t let you get one? Borrow someone else’s! Dog borrowing programmes such as Borrow My Doggy have been popping up everywhere so you can get all the benefits of man’s best friend, minus the dog hair on your sofa and the extortionate vet bills.

Now, as with all things, these tips only work if you put them into practice. Start by choosing two or three of these things and incorporate them into your life. Write them on a post-it or schedule them into your dairy to make sure you remember to do them.
