The braid has been dominating the catwalks this year and has made a bold statement on the red carpet, so here’s why you should be braiding too!
We love a braid – whether it’s in the form of a striking fishtail, romantic halo or urban side plait, there’s a style for every occasion from weddings to festivals.
For most of us, getting creative with these styles can be quite a challenge – ensuring it’s even and symmetrical is tricky. So if you’re all fingers and thumbs, you might want to check out UK leading hair salon Seanhanna and its new Braid Menu. It won’t break your bank, with prices starting from £15, and it’s available at salons in Bristol, Cambridge, Canary Wharf, Epsom, Putney, Sutton, Wimbledon and Worcester Park.
Creative director Skyler McDonald tells us, “Braids are an exciting way to keep hair on trend. Not only do they look super stylish but they can take your look from day to night really easily. Anyone can wear braids – they suit all face shapes and all ages.” If you’re on a tight budget and need some guidance on how to create braid magic at home, you can follow Seanhanna’s helpful online tutorials here. From a chain to hairline to romantic braid, it’s all there. The beautiful waterfall braid is one to definitely try!
For creating a fishtail braid at home, Skyler says: “Something like a fishtail braid can be so simple and effective – it’s best kept loose and slightly dishevelled. To help exaggerate its thickness and texture, gently pull at the braid once complete.”
For spring/summer 2015 it’s all about being fuss-free and making the most of messy locks. You can forget having to tiresomely pin your hair to perfection and instead embrace the laid-back look. Another hair trend we love is the half-up half-down style with a centre parting. Why not take some Pinterest inspiration, too?
