Get prepped for your break away with the summer holiday checklist. If you’re the kind of person who likes to get organised early you may already into your holiday shopping sorted, but sometimes it’s easy to forget to pack certain items. So if you need a bit of guidance, let’s get prepped!

Sun cream and aftersun
Although they are two separate items, these really should be listed together because they protect your skin against the sun’s harmful rays and give added moisturising benefits. Having a sun cream with an SPF no lower than 30 is essential to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. Plus, it’s one of best methods to reduce wrinkles, sunburn and any chance of skin cancers. While aftersun is effective for restoring any lost moisture and rehydrating your skin after being in the sun.

Contraception
Let’s not shy away from this one. While it may not be the first thing you think of, it’s very important to also consider your sexual health while abroad, as unprotected sex can lead to diseases. Having fun is great, but also being in control shows you’re mature and care for your health, and the health of others. Add a pack of condoms to your luggage, whether it’s for yourself, your friends or anyone else (you never know who’ll need one), it’ll help you avoid any unwanted visits to the clinic.

Tinted moisturiser
If you like to go make-up-free but still want a summer glow, then a good tinted moisturiser is one to add to your luggage. These have the power to brighten your face and give you a radiant look, plus they usually contain a high SPF for an extra layer of protection.

Hair conditioner
Just like your skin, your hair also needs to be moisturised and hydrated. Seeing as your locks will also be exposed to the sun’s harmful rays, it is more prone to dryness and damage. So we say pack a conditioner that works perfectly for your hair, as well as a sun protection hair spray – so you can add hydration on the go.

Exfoliator
It’s great to have skin-protecting and moisturising products, but when combined with sweat, salt and chlorine it can build up on your skin to leave a gunky layer. Using a good cleanser will allow you to continuously gain all the benefits from your skin products each time they are applied – as they will be working on clean, fresh skin, ready to soak up all the valuable ingredients.
