It’s changed the way we cleanse. Micellar water – what’s the big deal?

So what is micellar water? Well it isn’t just any water if that’s what you’re thinking, It’s made up of tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules (micelles). It has the same appearance and viscosity as normal H2O, but the texture is completely different explains Kirsti Shuba, co-founder of Katherine Daniels Cosmetics: ‘The water-like consistency means you get a great eye make-up remover too, as it can get right down to the base of your lashes and remove every trace of mascara.’

The secret ingredient is the tiny micelles that are attracted to dirt and oil, as they work together to draw out any impurities on the skin’s surface. This leaves the skin replenished with a natural glow, enhancing a clean, healthy complexion. Can your tap water do that?

In fact, micellar water is not a new beauty product; it’s been highly-praised for years by French women, as it’s a big oui, oui to safely remove make-up without damaging sensitive skin. Here are the top benefits of using micellar water on your skin.

Super quick and easy

Whether you’re coming home after a long day at the office or a spontaneous happy hour outing, it’s ever so easy to simply grab a make-up wipe and call it a day. But there’s a catch! Did you know that the majority of make-up wipes contain chemicals that can be harsh and cause damage to sensitive skin?

‘Micellar waters are a great go to product to remove make-up,’ says Kirsti. ‘When using micellar cleansing water to thoroughly cleanse your skin, you need to keep wiping over the skin with clean cotton pads soaked in product until no make-up is visible on the pads. This ensures all traces of skin clogging foundation has been removed.’

Maintain hydration

Like your everyday make-up wipes, many other facial products can contain alcohol and other harsh substances that tend to dry out the skin, leaving a red and blotchy imprint that can knock your self-esteem. Micellar water doesn’t need soap or any other defective chemicals, so your skin is nourished and hydrated with a healthy glow.

Good for all skin types

Whatever your skin type, micellar water is non-irritating and free from harsh chemicals, making it friendly to your delicate skin. It evens out imbalances on the skin’s surface, and soothes, making it a match made in heaven for all skin types.

It’s affordable

More and more high-street beauty brands are adding the magical touch of micellar water into products, so there’s no need to break the bank for clear skin!
