Whether you’ve pulled an all-nighter or your hair’s just got a mind of its own today, here are 5 ways to look your best on a bad day.

Even if the day just isn’t going your way (and it’s only 8am!), it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice looking great. Whether you’ve slept in late, woken up to a breakout or just feeling tired, no one has to know. Who doesn’t want to look fabulous all the time? If you feel confident with the way you look, you’re bound to have a good day, right?

Let the day commence with you looking and feeling on top form. Here are our top 5 time-efficient tweaks to looking your best even on the worst of days.

1. Use a great moisturiser

You might overlook this but using a good moisturiser is key to achieving fresh, healthy skin. It takes less than a minute to apply after cleansing, so there’s really no excuse not to.

Global celebrity make-up artist and chief make-up artist on X Factor (the one we see powdering up Simon’s face) Julia Carta says: ‘To achieve glowing skin, it’s not all about make-up alone – skin preparation is key. Moisturising, drinking water and eating healthily is the key to glowing skin.’

Aleysha Mawani from beauty studio, Athena London, tells us: ‘I think the right moisturiser makes a big difference. This doesn’t mean buying the most expensive one, it means buying the one that suits your skin type the best. For example, an oil-free one for oily skin or a deep moisturising one for dry skin.’

For a great yet affordable moisturiser, try Garnier Skin Naturals Moisture Match (£3.99, garnier.co.uk)

Or if you want to give your skin a lavish treat try Karin Herzog Vita-A-Combi Cream (£60, feelunique.com)
