With London Fashion Week just around the corner, we decided it was time to find out what the hottest trends are in all things hair. We caught up with Asgar Saboo, hair stylist to the stars at LFW, who gave us the 5 hairstyles you need in your life this autumn.
Whether you’re attending LFW, or simply want to look chic for that party next weekend, here are five hairstyles you need in your life.
The glossy pony
Often worn by celebs such as Olivia Palermo, Cara Delevingne and Kimmy K, the glossy pony is a celebrity favourite, oozing glamour and style. It’s a fairly easy style to do but will tie together any outfit, ensuring you look fashion-forward and fierce. ‘Use your straighteners to get your hair silky smooth and once the ponytail is in place, fix with Kirby grips and a high shine fixing spray to get the most fabulous, glossy finish,’ advises Asgar.
Do the twist
The halo braid is fast becoming a fashion staple and has been seen on stars such as Sienna Miller. ‘This works well for eccentric fashion looks, but I prefer this style when it’s matched with the laidback, minimalist clothes of labels like Joseph and Paul Smith,’ explains Asgar. Yes, it may take you slightly longer in the morning and yes, you may need a few practice runs, but once you’ve nailed it, it’s a great go-to look.
Asgar says: ’Start with freshly blow-dried hair to get rid of the frizz, then starting from the left side of the head, loosely French plait the hair working clockwise across your head, finishing at the nape of the neck to complete the halo.’
The traditional French braid
This style never seems to go out of fashion and has been hailed as a timeless classic. It’s also absolutely ideal for those days when you are pushed for time and you’re so tired you can’t quite function yet. ‘In fact, this style is great when it looks effortless, so don’t be afraid to leave the braid slightly messy or with a few hairs left loose by your face,’ says Asgar. Just remember to fix in place with hairspray to ensure your locks stay in place all day. Easy peasy.
Tousled lob (long bob)
With celebs such as Margot Robbie rocking the long bob, it’s expected to be a London Fashion Week fave. Asgar recommends starting with a salt or texture spray to add body and movement to your locks. ‘Using a small round brush, blow-dry sections of the hair, rolling away from your face. Complete the process with a curling iron, curling an inch from the root, leaving the root straight,’ he adds. Then, all you need to do is run your fingers through your hair to separate the waves and make it look as natural and as effortless as possible.
Curls world
This year it’s all about the return to ‘80s fashion, so why not incorporate this into your hairstyle, too? According to Asgar, this is a great look to demonstrate how bang on trend you are and will set you head and shoulders above the rest. Curls are also super fun, as you can go crazy on volume and make a real statement look. ‘Starting from the back of your hair, grab a small section and use a 10mm curling wand to achieve tight curls,’ explains Asgar. ‘Try to avoid curling big sections of your hair at once, as the curls may not last as long and won’t look as ‘80s appropriate.’ To finish, add hairspray and backcomb a little if you like – the level of volume is up to you – and you’re good to go.
