No expenses are spared when it comes to beauty, but it doesn’t have to leave you ‘in the red’ if you check out these 5 beauty tricks to try out.  Although these nifty tips and tricks might sound strange at first, they guarantee the most unexpected results and can make a significant difference to your beauty regime…

Aluminum foil

If you wake up with a swollen or puffy face, it’s probably due to the pressure that’s placed on your skin when you’re asleep. Aluminum foil is a great tool to combat this. Yes, that’s right: good, old-fashioned foil. First, chill the aluminum foil in a freezer for an hour, then apply it to your face – putting pressure on it to ensure it takes the shape of your bone structure, but leaving little holes for your eyes and mouth. Leave the foil on for roughly 15 minutes and the coldness will help to eliminate puffiness and tighten pores as well. Apparently it’s a great hangover cure too.

Vinegar

Regular use of shampoo causes product build-up in your hair, making it dry and hiding its natural shine. To remedy this, mix a tablespoon of vinegar with your regular shampoo and apply through your hair. Focus application on the ends of your tresses and allow the mixture to sit on your hair for up to five minutes. The product build-up should be removed during the rinsing process.

Potato

Dark colouration of your underarms is a common issue, but believe it or not, potatoes contain a mild acid that’s a great natural bleaching agent to fight this. There are two methods of application. First you can cut a thin slice of potato and rub is against your underarm area, alternatively, squash the potato and rub the juice to your underarm. Allow it to set for approximately 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water afterwards. Follow this procedure twice a day to achieve fast and effective results.

Vaseline

Nowadays, lipsticks are formulated to stay longer and leave a lasting shine, but this makes them chemically stronger and harder to clean off with normal make-up removers. An easy trick is to apply Vaseline on your lips and then wipe it off. The Vaseline should remove any remnants of the lipstick and at the same time, leave your lips feeling soft and rejuvenated.

Fresh coffee grounds

Fresh coffee grounds can be used to fight off the appearance of cellulite. Simply mix up a quarter cup of coffee grounds with three tablespoons of water and two tablespoons of olive oil. Apply warm water to affected areas or take a warm shower and apply the mixed coffee paste in a circular motion for two to four minutes. Once completed, rinse with warm water again. The caffeine and antioxidants in coffee grounds can help to dilate blood vessels, improve blood circulation and reduce water retention, and all of these factors can contribute to cellulite reduction.
