If you’re bored of regular crunches, try the toe touch to tone your tummy

 

We’re all a little guilty of not stepping out of our comfort zones every now and then, and when it comes to abs workouts, it’s easy to get stuck in a routine that consists of the standard crunches, sit-ups and planks. When we do the same exercises over and over, our bodies begin to adapt and results begin to plateau. Why not throw a few adaptations into the mix to give your body a new challenge?

 

Try the toe touch for a variation on the crunch that will challenge your core as well as your stomach.

 

Instructions

Lie on the floor with your legs extended to the ceiling.

Contract the abs muscles to curl your shoulders and upper back up off the floor, reaching your toes with your fingertips.

Slowly lower and repeat.

 

Top tips:

Lower the legs to different angles for each set to make it more difficult.

Don’t overarch your lower back.

Keep your hips on the floor throughout.
