WHL The world’s best cycle cities

Seville, Spain

Seville has become a cycling poster child for urban cities across the globe. In only a very short period of time, Seville managed to increase the number of people hitting the streets on their bikes tenfold by establishing a Dutch-style network of cycle tracks and a bike hire scheme. Seville’s ancient streets were originally designed for horse and pedestrian traffic, which is why it makes sense for cyclists to take advantage of the narrow streets – as car drivers would constantly find themselves in gridlock. The success of the cycle lanes in Seville has helped to ease traffic congestion problems while also encouraging the city’s inhabitants and tourists who visit to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.
