The world’s best cycle cities

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is renowned as one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world. It has 400 kilometres of designated cycle lanes for the sole use of bikes, with some lanes having their own signal systems. Amazingly, bicycles outnumber the number of inhabitants living in the city! Copenhagen has a bicycle strategy that aims for at least 50 per cent of commuter journeys to be made by bike in the near future. There are plans to further improve cycling in the city, with promises to widen cycle tracks to three lanes, to build additional bicycle and pedestrian-only bridges and to increase the number of bicycle parking spaces. Experience the beauty of the idyllic city of Copenhagen as you take in the sights from your bike!
