The festive season is often fuelled with alcohol which spells bad news for your waistline. ‘An excessive intake of alcohol is one of the biggest pitfalls we face at Christmas time and this can leave livers feeling very fragile. Alcoholic drinks are often made with mixers containing lots of sugar, so it can be easy to consume up to 1,000 calories in drinks alone,’ says Amy Betts, fitness and nutrition expert at The Training Room.
