Got a foodie or two in your life? This foodie gift guide from Harriet Emily has something for everyone.
If there’s someone who doesn’t enjoy making it, then there’s someone who enjoys eating it.
I can undoubtedly tell you that I come from a foodie family. We’re all food obsessed. If there’s someone who doesn’t enjoy making it, then there’s someone who enjoys eating it. For me, the best part is definitely in the making of food. There’s nothing I enjoy more than creating something from scratch. I think there’s something poetic about writing a recipe, as you envision your soon to be creation. Cooking is unquestionably an art form, and it’s certainly a personal one.
From tailoring a list of ingredients to suit your palette, or designing the decorations for a cake, we all put part of ourselves into the food we make. This is why Christmas is such an important time for me. I enjoy spending the upcoming weeks dedicating my time to making edible gifts and festive creations. Some of the best gifts we can give are the ones we make ourselves. Last year, for instance, I designed and created a gingerbread village to give to my parents. To this day it’s still standing, fully intact in their dining room – after they refused to take it down after several months. Admittedly, I was slightly shocked that it’s lasted so long unscathed. At least it’s safe to say that a personalised gift is certainly something people treasure. So when it comes to gift giving this year, I’ve hand picked some of my favourite presents for the fellow foodies in your lives.
