Otherwise known as the celebrity bootcamp, Barry’s has gained recognition for its super-intense 1000 kcal-burning workouts. Each day of the week works a different part of the body so that ideally, you’d have to go every day for your body to acquire the full benefits. The techniques in each class are designed to improve cardio, weight loss and muscle-building with segments being changed up so that no one class is ever the same. Sandy Macaskill, co-founder of Barry’s Bootcamp London says, ‘from purely a training point of view, our high-intensity interval cardiovascular training (so sprints, hill runs, backward runs, everything) burns serious calories. We combine it with strength training, which kicks your metabolism into high gear, so when you leave the gym you keep burning the calories over the next 24 hours – even if you’re sitting at a desk! But a major part of Barry’s is the group experience and inspiring instructors, which can’t be quantified but is so crucial in getting you to set and realise your ambitions.’
We heart: Butt and Leg Tuesdays… and Full Body days on the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The muscle aches give us a good excuse to stay in over the weekend.
