It’s that time again, the dreaded bikini season, so to help you on your way to body confidence, here are 3 of the most effective ways to blast away pounds. By going that extra mile to avoid the more calorific items and that extra cocktail you didn’t really need, you can be a scorcher this summer.

Train with a friend

By agreeing to go to classes or training with a pal, you get that extra bit of motivation. If you buddy up, you can keep each other motivated by going to classes or running clubs together. Let’s face it, nothing’s as hard if you’re in it together. There are loads of great classes to help shift those pounds, HIIT classes such as Barry’s Bootcamp, 1Rebel or Virgin Active’s TwentyFour. Not only are these great workouts but you will get to meet lots of other people who are battling the bulge too.

Cut out the crap

Do you really need that chocolate bar? No! By being really strict with yourself and cutting out those little treats for just a few weeks, you can really drop pounds with ease. We all know that summer is a time of temptation, what with barbecues and garden parties, but by cutting down on sugary items like chocolate and ice cream, you’ll be feeling great in no time. Alcohol in particular is something to avoid if you’re trying to blast those summer pounds. It’s also a great way of cleansing your system and detoxing for a few weeks, too.

Sign up to a race or fitness event

Having a goal is a great way of dropping weight and gaining stamina and energy. By having a deadline you can give yourself a real kick to start those gym sessions or classes again. Sign up to an event held in September so you give yourself enough time to train and something to work towards over the summer – a great motivational tool when you don’t feel like training. There are lots of events to try out all over the country: triathlons, charity races, marathons and so much more. Why not push yourself and try something new?
