This month’s hottest fitness trend is all about running for fun. Yup we’ve all got buddies who’ve run more marathons than you can count on one hand or who can’t wait to smash that half marathon PB. But for some of us the fun of running is in plodding around the park at sunrise, exploring new places or having a good old gas with our mates. If you fall into this category, don’t think running events aren’t for you. This season there are tonnes of fun running events – over manageable distances – that you’ll love. Whether you want lights, colour or mud, we’ve got a fun run you’ll love.
Electric run
We can’t wait to give this run a whirl! Don your neons, pack your glowsticks and lace up your trainers to start exploring an amazing electronic world. Kicking off in the dark this run leads you through an electro rainforest, electric avenue, neffmau5 land and a pillar party, all of which should make running this fun-packed course a breeze. Get your mates, slap on the glow paint and get going! This kicks off in London on 26 April, then heads to Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Colour Run
This run calls itself the ‘happiest 10K on the planet’ and it looks awesome! Turn up at the start line in your brightest whites, get pelted with colour every kilometre and end up a beautiful multicoloured mess by the end! What more could you want from a day out? The Colour Run hits London on 1 June, Manchester on 5 July and Sunderland on 20 July, with more events around the country later in the year.

Tough Mudder
These popular races are a great way to spend a day with your mates. The obstacles and the mud come thick and fast in these adventure races, but the emphasis is on helping your friends and fellow adventurers get round, so the atmosphere is amazing. But electroshock obstacles, cage crawls and flaming walls aren’t for the faint hearted, so make sure you’ve got your game face on. The Midlands event takes place on 12 and 13 July.
