Runners are cut from a different cloth, you’ll know what we mean if you are one! Here are 10 ways you know you’re a runner
1. You have more trainers than heels
These days one pair of trainers just doesn’t cut it when it comes to pavement pounding. But those neon Nikes, race day kicks and barefoot beauties are in danger of sidelining the long saved for Jimmy Choos!
2. You’re embarrassed to get your feet out
Sure you wear your blisters like a badge of honour at running club, but you’re more than a little sheepish when you have to get them out on a spa day with the girls.
3. You’re obsessed with finding the perfect song to match your pace
The dance floor beckons, but you’ve whipped out your phone to shazam that tune. It’s the perfect 6-minute mile beat!
4. You don’t get the gym
It’s sweaty, it’s boring and it’s indoors. You love nothing better than exploring the world by foot and getting a good dash of fresh air while you’re at it. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s outdoors, what’s not to love?
5. You can’t stop talking in numbers
Whether you’re comparing your mates’ times, measuring a new route or analysing your last race splits, your world is about beating the clock. Every tweet, every Facebook update, you love it!
6. You’d rather sack off that last glass of vino than miss your 8am run
At some point the runner’s high takes over and you can’t imagine skipping a session, especially not for something as pathetic as a hangover.
7. You spend more time in lycra than jeans
Well, you may as well dress the part! And anyway fitness wear as casual wear is all the rage!
8. You’d rather meet up for a run than a coffee
Multitasking is a modern girl’s way of life. Why waste time sitting when you could be out clocking up the miles as your commiserate with your friend over her latest date disaster?
9. You don’t leave the house without a pair of trainers
Whether they’re on your feet, in your gym bag, in the boot of your car, or in your suitcase, you’re always prepared. Who knows when the opportunity for a quick 5k might arise?
10.Almost everyone else you know is a runner
Half your mates are from running club, the other half you’ve convinced to do a half marathon with you and you’d have dumped your boyfriend long ago if he hadn’t taken those new kicks you bought him out for a few turns around the local park.
