Some days dragging yourself to the gym can seem like more hassle than it’s worth, so how can you make sure you get yourself off that sofa and onto that treadmill? Check out our 5 ways to boost your fitness mojo

1. Set some goals

If you know what you’re working towards – and why! – it’s a lot easier to convince yourself to get out of bed for that early morning workout. Your goals don’t have to be huge – not everyone wants to run a marathon! – but they do have to be realistic.

2. Revamp your playlist

Music has an amazing effect on you when exercising – it can help to boost your motivation and results as well as making your workout seem less difficult. According to a study in the Perceptual and Motor Skills Journal listening to music can help to lower your perceived exertion – i.e. how hard you think the workout is – during exercise. So raving to your fave tunes could help you go harder for longer!

3. Join a club

If your motivation is waning, joining a sports or activity club can be a great way to reignite that passion. Whether you fancy playing a team sport or joining a running or cycling club, the social aspect – club trips/dinners/events – and the fact you can train with others will help to revive your interest.

4. Try something new

Doing the same classes week in week out can be really dull. Try something completely different for a few weeks and then try changing up your routine every six to eight weeks to keep things fresh. And make sure your workouts are fun. Life’s too short for boring workouts. Check out some of our fave workouts here.

5. Find an idol

Whether it’s a friend, celeb or work colleague finding someone who inspires you when it comes to fitness can be a great way to boost your motivation. Look at what they’ve achieved and if possible talk to them about how they did it.
