Avocados are good for you, fact. While some people can take or leave avos, we absolutely love them. Not only are they delicious, but they’re so packed with goodness that we make sure they’re a staple in our kitchens. They’re also really versatile, from guacamole to diced over a salad. Here are 5 reasons why you should be eating them regularly.

1. Good fats
While some people believe the high fat content of avocados are a reason to avoid them, we know better. Their good fats help lower blood pressure and can also level out blood sugar levels to give you more energy and help your body burn fat more efficiently.

2. Fibre content
Keep your digestion in check by topping up both your soluble and insoluble fibre levels. Avocados contain both, helping to keep bowel movements healthy – one less thing to worry about!

3. Mental health
Omega-3 fatty acids, which avocados contain a decent amount of, have been shown to be a brain food, helping reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

4. Skin boost
Avocados are a great source of vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps to protect the skin, as well as repair damaged collagen and improve dry skin. They can also prevent wrinkling and ageing of the skin, so are also a natural anti-ager.

5. Protective outer layer
Avoiding chemical pesticides by going organic is all well and good in theory, but let’s face it – it gets expensive. Luckily, avocados sport a thick, protective outer skin, which means that any pesticides used will not reach the part that you ingest. So you can stick to your regular avos and enjoy the same benefits!
