2. Roller derby
If you’ve ever seen the film Whip It!, you’ll know what roller derby is all about. But in reality, it’s less of the bashing and barging and more of a serious cardio workout – plus it involves using loads of strength, so you’ll see an improvement there, too. ‘More women should take up roller derby because it’s actually such a fun sport, as long as you’re not averse to a couple of bruises after a heavy training session,’ explains London Rollergirls’ Raw Heidi. ‘It’s also unusual, colourful and entirely run by the skaters themselves so you can find a new way to get fit, a new hobby and a community to explore.’
