1. Mixed martial arts
There’s no doubt that MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and more and more woman are trying it now – all for different reasons. Icons like Ronda Rousey are making the sport really accessible for women, while its self-defence aspects are appealing for lots of us, too.

It’s also a great way to get into shape. ‘MMA is great because you use your whole body – there are so many different elements so it never gets boring,’ says UFC strawweight fighter Jojo Calderwood. ‘I also find MMA workouts de-stressing and it improves my focus in other parts of life. I also really hope that when girls tune into my fights and the TV show The Ultimate Fighter, they’ll see how empowering the sport can be for females.’
