5. Relying on coffee
Swap your regular caffeine hit for a cup of green tea. ‘Green tea contains an antioxidant compound called EGCG that has been linked to a lower risk of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and cancer,’ says Louise. ‘Green tea is also a source of the amino acid L-theanine, which is a potent stress-buster.’ Yes it still contains caffeine, but less than coffee, plus it packs a hefty antioxidant punch. And you can go the decaf route if you’e really keen to cut caffeine. According to a study by Penn State university drinking green tea could also potentially have significant affects on weight loss. ‘This is because the green tea leaf contains another group of antioxidants called catechins which help to crank up the metabolic rate,’ says Louise. Not a bad start to the morning huh?
