Somersault

Where: Castle Hill, North Devon

When: 23-27 July

This festival is not for the faint of heart! The north Devon scenery provides the perfect backdrop to try something new and bring out your adventurous side. Surfing is a big thing at Somersault, and complete beginners can take their first lesson, or the more experienced can enjoy a post-yoga surf at sunrise. Alternatively, take a kayak or paddleboard out, or explore the nearby caves on a white-water raft. Not a water baby? Don’t worry – there’s plenty more to do, such as archery, rock climbing, high-ropes and mountain biking.

For the less adventurous, other things on offer include meditation, yoga, massages and crafts, and there are plenty of things to watch while you while away the hours, like performances from Acrojou’s Wheel House acrobatics, and Cscape Dance Company. Those with kids needn’t worry either – simply hire an overnight child wagon to wheel around your little ones, or get in touch with Somersault’s boutique nannying service. If you’re not already sold, Somersault also has an incredible line-up of chilled live artists to provide the soundtrack to your week. This year features the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Passenger and Rae Morris.
