Pollution protection is only a beauty buy away!

A new study, by price comparison website MoneySuperMarket, found that air pollution in the UK is more than double that of the US, and linked to a staggering 40,000 early deaths a year. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise. Pollution – particularly in major cities – has been increasing globally for years, and scientists have long been warning us of the major health implications that come with it, particularly for those suffering from ailments like asthma and hayfever. You may have already noticed the affects – allergies can be exacerbated, respiration can be affected, skin can become irritated and even hormones can be sent out of whack. In January this year, London Mayor Sadiq Kahn (who himself says London’s polluted air has given him asthma) even advised sufferers of the condition to take appropriate measures when a red toxic smog alert was issued.

However, there are some products on the market that might provide a solution of sorts. As more and more research suggests the effects of pollution might be manifesting in more obvious ways – face irritation, spots, unhealthy hair – the beauty industry has begun to boom with pollution-fighting pots of magic. From creams to foundations to shampoos, if your beauty regime is playing up – and you live in a busy city – it might be time to try some of these.
