Looking for a new weekend breakfast idea? Try these cinnamon-sugared, French toast-style wraps. We can’t promise they’ll make you jump out of bed on a Saturday morning, but they’re certainly worth getting up earlier for.
Plus, cinnamon is a totally underrated spice that offers all kinds of wonderful health-boosting properties such as: lowering blood sugar levels, helping to reduce heart disease and combating ailments such as the common cold and diarrhea.
Ingredients (serves 2)
1 Mission Deli Original Wrap
1tbsp granulated sugar
1tsp cinnamon powder
1 egg
1tbsp milk
1tsp fresh thyme leaves
2tbsp unsalted butter
Fresh fruit (raspberries, blueberries or caramelised pineapple or peach)
Crème fraiche or vanilla ice cream
1tbsp maple syrup
Method
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Whisk the egg, thyme leaves and milk together.
Fold your wrap into four and cut along the lines into triangles. Melt the butter in a non-stick frying pan that’s large enough to hold the triangles, until bubbling. Brush the wraps on both side with the egg wash and fry in the melted butter until puffed and golden, turning halfway through – for about three minutes in total.
Dust all over with the cinnamon sugar and serve with fresh berries or caramelised fruit and a spoonful of crème fraiche or vanilla ice cream and maple syrup poured over.
