The Boston Marathon began all the way back in 1897, making it the world’s oldest annual marathon. A lot of the course is the same as it would have been back then, with slight changes made over the years to the locations of the start and finish lines. Beginning in the town of Hopkinton, after a few miles runners make their way up the famous Heartbreak Hill before catching a fantastic view of downtown Boston from the top. The Boston Marathon is regarded as one of the world’s most esteemed road racing events.
