10 running rules you should be following

Run outside – get back to nature.

Running on a treadmill can be soul destroying. Most of the time on a treadmill you will be counting down the minutes until you can stop and are more likely to feel time is dragging. When you run outside you are more likely to feel as though the time and distance is being covered promptly and comfortably. Also, running outside means you always have a change of scenery and surface, so you are less likely to put as much stress on your joints as on a treadmill.

However, it is important when training outside that you are aware of your surroundings. You should wear lights or high-visibility clothing in the dark, to make sure traffic can see you. Also, unless you have a Fitbit or another fitness tracker you won’t know how far you’ve gone and how quickly you’ve done it and so this technology is useful once you start trying to hit targets. And as a beginner, you should pick the road most travelled to ensure you stay safe.
