Stuck for ideas for achievable aims in 2017? Try these 10 New Year’s resolutions you’ll want to stick to
The New Year is approaching, which means you’ve started thinking about your resolutions. Let’s be honest – how long are they really going to last? You’re far more likely to notice a significant change in your life if you choose a realistic resolution, rather than a far-fetched one. Try one of our suggestions and see for yourself.
Hydrate
Many of us don’t drink as much water as we should. This has an effect on many aspects of our lives, including how well we sleep and how much energy we have during the day. Keep a bottle with you at all times as a reminder to drink up.
Get moving
Human beings aren’t meant to sit down all day. It slows down your metabolism, can make your brain sluggish and is bad for your back. If your job involves sitting behind a desk, make an effort to take regular breaks to go for a walk. You’ll feel a whole lot better.
Digital detox
It may be part of your bedtime routine to check your phone just before you hit the sack, but using technology before bed can seriously disrupt your quality of sleep. Make a pact to turn off all digital devices 30 minutes before you go to bed. The next morning, you’ll feel far more energised.
Save up
Putting away a little bit of money when your salary comes in every month is a great way to save a fair amount of money over a long period of time. By the time a year’s passed, you’ll have a healthy sum of cash for you to spend as you see fit.
Food diary
Are you on a mission to eat healthier with no idea how to actually make it happen? Keeping a food diary is a great way to start. Begin by making a note of when and what you eat. Then, you’ll be able to spot where you can start making healthy changes.
Todo or not to do?
Bring your organisational skills up to scratch by making to-do lists. Lists motivate you to finally do those tasks that you’ve been procrastinating on, it will clear your mind and it can even improve your memory. Plus, it’s so satisfying to tick things off.
Clear out
It’s time for a fresh start, which means it’s out with the old and in with the new. Start by clearing out your wardrobe. Stop pretending that you still wear all of your clothes when some of them haven’t seen the light of day in years. Be ruthless.
Ex-scape
The New Year is about looking forward to the future, not dwelling on the past. If you’re still hung up on an ex, now is the time to start anew. Delete their number from your phone and unfollow them on social media. Put yourself first and find the strength to move on.
Healthy start
Rushing out of the front door without breakfast is a frantic way to start the day. Give yourself enough time in the morning to sit down and have a healthy meal. Your energy levels will remain high throughout the day and you’ll feel ready to take on anything that comes your way.
Workout buddy
Motivating yourself during a workout can be tough. A handy solution is to exercise with a friend, who’ll make it easier for you to find the willpower to keep going as you’ll both push and support one another while also having a great time.
