The Gate, Islington

It’s one of the longest-standing vegetarian restaurants (opened in 1989) and with an extensive menu that’s as creative as it is homely, The Gate is still as successful as ever. The fare is Indo-Iraqi-Jewish so expect the unexpected – Aubergine Schnitzel, Three Lentil Pate Terrine and wait for it… three different vegetarian Sunday Roast options for mains alone. Why is there still only one location?
