Seaweed
The unsung hero of the algae world, members of the seaweed family like nori, pulse and kelp are literally brimming with nutrients. Not only are they a fabulous immunity-booster thanks to their impressive vitamin C content, the these green sea vegetables are a good source of the mineral iodine, which is important for balancing thyroid hormone levels. Sea vegetables are also crammed with calcium and iron, making them a good dietary addition for vegans and vegetarians. Best of all, they are packed with lignins (plant compounds which are thought to help protect against diseases like cancer).
