Tinned tomatoes
My last option may seem like an obvious one, but tinned vegetables like chopped tomatoes in particular, can easily save you some pennies. From 31p per tin, you can easily whip up a tasty tomato sauce to serve with spaghetti, or as the base for a healthy ratatouille. As much as I like to use ingredients that are as fresh as possible in my cooking, I’m certainly partial to the thrifty temptation of some tinned tomatoes. As such a cheap staple to keep in the store cupboard, it also has its health benefits. High in vitamins A and C, you’ll definitely feel the goodness of their nutrients after buying more of these red beauties.
