As much as I love the fun of buying a few of the crazier kitchen gadgets out there, there are a few staple items in my kitchen that I simply can’t live without. When it comes to food preparation, I’m very picky about choosing the right utensils. In my opinion, if you want to create top quality food, then the reliability of an appliance is just as important as the quality of a recipe. So I’ve chosen my top five kitchen essentials for you to make the best food possible, ranging from some of the smaller basics to the handiest gadgets I can’t go a day without using.

Any cook will tell you about the importance of a good knife. Even when looking on the internet, you’ll find pages of reviews and comparisons, and even recommendations from celebrity chefs. A sharp, reliable knife is certainly on the top of my list when it comes to food preparation – no one enjoys the struggle of cutting through a tough vegetable!
