Danielle Peazer Blog: Why I love to work out

I love being able to share my workouts and fitness routines with you guys (you’ll have seen them on my Instagram and YouTube accounts) so I’ve teamed up with We Heart Living for a series of Blogs about it. Every week I’ll be talking to you about what motivates me; my favourite sessions; what I eat to stay energised and much, much more. In just a few days I’ll also be able to reveal my really exciting fitness project – eek!

For as long as I can remember exercise has been a part of my weekly routine. I started dancing when I was really young and have always enjoyed being active. It’s the distraction away from anything else and the enhanced mental balance of focusing on a workout that does it for me. It gives you an unrivalled sense of calmness when you’re stressed out, which is much healthier than any other stress-relieving alternative I know. Just being that little bit more active every day can bring about the body and mind benefits of working out. Lots of people forget how easy incorporating exercise into their daily lives can be, but it can be really easy to fit into your routine – taking the stairs rather than the escalator and choosing to walk rather than drive, all count towards being more active.

LOVE YOUR BODY
Undoubtedly having variety in your workout helps to keep you motivated to achieve your fitness goals; a varied programme also helps you create the evenly sculpted body you want. It’s so important to learn to accept yourself the way you are, even while you’re working towards your goals; and most importantly, avoid comparing yourself to others. An ‘ideal’ body just doesn’t exist – everyone’s different! So keeping fit and healthy is really the most important and rewarding goal you can set yourself. Comparison only makes you feel defeated before you’ve even begun and sucks the fun and relief out of exercising. I stay motivated by surprising myself with new activities that I didn’t necessarily expect to enjoy, which helps benefit both my body and mind.

EVERYONE’S DIFFERENT
I’m never doing the same thing when it comes to working out, from constantly running around London to squeezing exercise into fitness shoots, every day is different and that really helps to keep me motivated. My choice in activities works for me because although I enjoy having toned muscles, I’m not aiming to get too built, but as I said, everyone’s different and has different goals, so you have to find what you’re comfortable with and have the patience to adapt as you learn in order to achieve your goals.

For a balanced mind and body in the long term, fitness doesn’t really have an end-date; there’s no end to the journey once you start! The benefits just keep on giving and once you know how good you feel you won’t want to not work out! I got active from a very young age, with ballet classes when I was two years old, however I don’t think you’re ever too old to get fit.
