Check out our interview with fitness blogger Tasha Green to find how she went from making videos on YouTube to being featured on the latest Adidas #Workit Circuit campaign…

Q What inspired you to get fit?

A I was going through a tough time and I needed a release so I thought I would join a gym to see if exercise could help, as I know it always helped me to feel amazing growing up. After a few days of going I started to notice how good it made me feel, but after a few weeks I also started to notice the changes in my body. I quickly became addicted to that almost euphoric and clear-minded feeling you get after working out and as for the wonders it was doing for my body – that just added to the great feeling.

Q Have you always been athletic?

A I was a massive tomboy as a kid, so from a very young age I was mad about sport and exercise and just being active in general. I used to do everything from sprinting to long distance and gymnastics. I also had this crazy love for football that landed me on the boys’ football team at school. Saying that, the kind of stuff I do now is new to me – going to the gym and pushing weights or doing yoga is so different to playing sports. It’s a whole new challenge.

Q Why do you think your Instagram and YouTube are so successful when there are so many fitness bloggers around these days?

A I think a lot of fitness bloggers out there have already reached their goals, which is great, but I’m still learning and I think people feel that they can learn with me and come on the journey with me. They are able to see that the results of working out and eating well are attainable, as they can watch my body and fitness levels change and they can also see my struggles. I try to stay open about the advice I give because I understand that everyone has different goals and different ways of reaching them. I also understand that the exact results one person gets won’t always be the same result another person gets depending on different factors such as genetics, body type and lifestyle. So I’m always transparent about that. I always remind people that you should be working out to be the best you can be, rather than aspiring to look exactly like someone else.

Q What do you do on a day when you’re seriously lacking motivation?

A Get on YouTube and watch Nikki Blackketter, Heidi Somers or Jen Heward – they are seriously inspirational athletes and just kick-ass girls! Watching the hard work they put in every day to prep for competitions and shoots and seeing the fruition of their hard work makes me feel really empowered and motivated to workout and stay fit.

Q What’s your favourite thing to do on a day off?

A Eat! Cheat day is my favourite thing ever!

Q Do you look up to anyone in the fitness industry? Why?

A Ronaldo. His drive, passion and desire to constantly improve is incredible. So is his attitude outside of fitness. Being such a successful footballer from such a young age would usually go to your head but he remembers where he came from and it shows in his actions.

Q What’s your favourite kind of workout and why?

A I love weight training and HIIT –  these both make me push boundaries every day and make me feel like I’m constantly accomplishing something, reaching and surpassing goals. I like doing my Adidas #workit Circuit programme, which addresses key areas of the body including legs, arms, core, glutes and an all-over session. It’s really easy to access and it’s great for either a quick 10 minute blast in your living room, or a full gym workout.

Q What’s your advice for someone new to fitness?

A Don’t be scared and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone works at a different level, you have to start somewhere to get somewhere. It takes time and hard work but just be persistent and enjoy the journey rather than just endure it. I used to be the girl that was scared to go into the weights room but everyone has been in that same starting position. It’s all a learning curve and even now I learn something new every day.

Q Why do you think getting fit and eating well is so popular right now?

A Because of the way it makes people feel. I think before it was a lot more about the aesthetic results – which are also great – but now I think people are realising what exercise can do for the mind as well as body.

Q What kind of fitness trends do you think will be taking off in the New Year?

A I think yoga is going to become more and more popular. I just tried out aerial yoga for the first time a few days ago and it was so much fun but it was also challenging. I think more and more women are also gaining the courage and confidence to get into the weights room, which I love!
