Need a little helping hand when it comes to feeling your best? Check out these 5 steps to body confidence
We all need a little confidence boost sometimes, even if it’s just the odd bad day that’s bringing you down. That’s why we’ve asked body confidence coaches Donna & Tora to lend us their expertise. Here are their 5 steps to feeling your best about your body.
1. Use your mirror as a motivator
When you look in the mirror, use your reflection as a motivator and not a curse. Speak positive things about your body no matter what weight you are. Always praise yourself for progress made. This is a great way to improve your overall confidence.
2. Improve your posture
How many times were you told to ‘stand up straight’ as a kid? Standing up tall makes you instantly look and feel more confident – remember, bottom in, chest out, tummy in and shoulders back!
3. Upgrade your breakfast
Start the day with a nourishing, healthy breakfast to get your metabolism working at its best. Ideally your breakfast will see you through until lunchtime, so experiment until you find the best option for you. We recommend a home-made muesli, packed full of seeds, nuts, wholegrains and dried fruit. Eating a good breakfast will set you on the right path each day, preventing unhealthy snacking and stop you feeling guilty about mid-morning biscuits!
4. Practise ‘enoughness’
With all the exposure to airbrushed models and pencil-thin celebrities, it’s easy to feel inadequate and pressurised to keep aiming for a size zero frame. Tell yourself that you’re ‘enough’ and accept your flaws; then you can feel body beautiful starting today.
5. Don’t quit, upgrade
Getting obsessed about trying to quit certain foods will do nothing for reinforcing your positive body image, so try upgrading your diet instead. Examples of healthy upgrades include replacing milk chocolate for 70% dark cacao chocolate, cereal for homemade muesli and white rice for quinoa.
