Reading Half Marathon to the rescue
Did you miss the cut for the Virgin London Marathon this year? Not to worry! Get your running fix by taking part in the Reading Half Marathon instead.
This week people have been finding out whether they’ve managed to bag a spot in the Virgin London Marathon. For some, their time has come! However, for those who didn’t make it, they may be feeling a little disheartened. But we might just have found the perfect solution…
The London Marathon isn’t the only esteemed race on the running fixtures for next year. The Reading Half Marathon – one of the most popular halfs in the UK – will be taking place a mere five weeks before the London Marathon. In 2017, almost 15,000 took part… and next year, you could be one of them!
Join the race in Reading
The route will take you around Reading town centre, where you’ll pass live music acts and the scenic University. On top of that, you’ll end the race inside Madejski Stadium, which is the home of Reading Football Club. It’s a really eventful race that draws a huge crowd every year, and while it might not be a full marathon, we reckon it’ll give you the fix you need.
Here’s what Judith Manson, Race Director, had to say about this fun and friendly race:
‘As an event, we’re renowned for our electric atmosphere, the huge local support lining the 13.1-mile route and the unique roaring atmosphere of the hero finish in the Madejski Stadium. We can’t wait to welcome thousands o f runners to the start line in March. Whether it’s your first mass participation running event or your final few weeks of preparation ahead of the London Marathon, we want to be that platform for personal bests and huge high fives at the finish line!’
Take note seasoned race-goers and newbies alike. The Reading Half Marathon will welcome you with open arms and promise you a run you’ll never forget. Sign up now!
The Reading Half Marathon will be taking place on Sunday 18 March 2018.
