No time for a gym session? No problem. Here are our fave ways to work out without working out
When time is precious, there’s no need to sacrifice your fitness. You can stay in shape, get healthy and feel good without hitting the gym at all – just being savvy can help you squeeze a workout in and get a cheeky dose of exercise, easy.
1. Taking the stairs
Been there, done that. We hear this one until we’re blue in the face, right? Right. That’s because it works. It’s stood the test of time. It really is one of the easiest ways to boost your calorie burn without deviating from your daily plans at all. Skip the lift. Take the stairs. Trust us.
2. Run to work
Whether it’s running to the train station, taking public transport to work then running home or running the entire way both to and from the office, running is a serious workout and also gets you from A to B. No excuses.
3. Bedroom workout
Wake up, work out, get ready, go. Just 5-10 minutes as soon as you wake up will do. Try press-ups, squats, step-ups on the stairs and lunges. Keep the intensity high for fat-burning potential.
4. Short bursts
You might not have time to dedicate a solid hour to the gym, but if you have intervals of 5 minutes throughout the day that you can spare, use them wisely. Take regular short breaks to do some plyometrics moves like jump squats, burpees and star jumps. The more you move, the more you burn.
5. Play
Walking the dog and playing with the kids can count as physical activity, too, if you really get moving. Turn spending quality time with your family into its own workout by playing Frisbee or catch in the park.
